Do I need an appointment?
Our studio works strictly on an appointment basis only to ensure we can provide you with our undivided attention. You are more than welcome to browse any time during our opening hours although we ask you to make a booking with us to ensure someone is available to assist you. Our consultant can then also provide you with further insight on our process and products.
Is there a consultation fee?
We charge a consultation fee of R300 that includes a selection to fit 4 of your favourite wedding dresses, a professional consultant that will provide you with their undivided attention and expert seasoned advice. The consultation fee is refundable should you decide to purchase a dress with us.
How long is the consultation?
Generally our appointments are scheduled for an hour to 2 hours but may differ from bride-to-bride considering all appointments are unique.
Should I bring anything with to my appointment?
We recommend that you bring the proper undergarments, such as panties and a strapless bra. Please avoid heavy make-up.
How long in advance must I come to discuss my dress?
We recommend ideally 6-8 months before the wedding, although we have helped brides who were weeks away! For bridal and bridesmaid dresses, alterations may be necessary which typically require between 2-4 weeks depending on the adjustments.
Who can I bring to my consultation?
Bring a supportive group of friends and family who can give you guidance and advice, together with our experienced bridal consultant, this will be an important and valuable experience. Please do take note that a limit of 3 guests per bride applies due to limited seating.
Can I bring children to my appointment?
Unfortunately our studio cannot accommodate for babies and young children due to the nature of our products.
Can I take pictures of your dresses?
Photographs taken of our designs are strongly prohibited until the gown is paid for in full.
How often do you get new gowns?
Our gowns are ordered throughout the year to ensure our collection remains up-to-style and current with the trends.
How much do you dresses cost?
We stock a wide range of different styles and types of dresses to ensure we can cater for each bride's unique preferences and budget. Our standard collection of gowns generally range from R7500 - R18000. Every new season we introduce a couple of styles that are part of our luxury collection of wedding dresses ideally suited for the bride whose looking to make a stylish statement that range from R18 000+.
All of our dresses are available off the rack, although alterations may be expected to adjust small details to perfect your look! A third-party alteration service can be arranged for you at an additional cost over and above the dress price.
What if you don't stock my size?
Our gown sizes generally range from US 4 to US 14, depending on the design of the dress. Not every design within our boutique is available in the full size range and plus size dresses are on demand only (US 16+). All of our dresses are available to order in any size, please enquire with us via e-mail or ask your bridal consultant for further help.
Do you make dresses?
If you do not find what you are looking for amongst our collections, we are able to make your dream dress for you depending on the criteria and intricacy of the design. It may take up to 12 weeks once your dress is complete, depending on the details. Contact us for more information.
Do you hire bridal and bridesmaid dresses?
Unfortunately we do not hire or rent any of our dresses or products. They are only exclusively available to purchase.
Do you sell formal and evening wear dresses?
Yes we do! We have partnered with Scarlett Fashion, Cape Town's leading matric and evening wear design house, offering a comprehensive collection of formal and evening wear gowns great for any special occasion, matric farewells or of you're looking for an out-of-the-box bridesmaid dress or funky mother-of-the-bride.
Do you make/ hire suits?
Unfortunately we do not make or rent out suits.
How does payment work?
We offer two options for our off the rack gowns:
1. A direct 100% payment and the dress is yours, ready for alterations!
2. Lay-by your dress over a 3-month period, subject to an initial 30% deposit upon the dress which is non-refundable. Alterations can not be made on the dress until the full balance is paid in.
If you order one of our dresses, a 50% deposit is required upfront which is non-refundable, and the remaining amount is due upon the arrival of the dress.
Are all sales final?
All sales and deposits are final. Unfortunately due to the nature and exclusivity of our products we cannot cancel a transaction and no refund will be given due to the delicacy of our products. All cash and carry items are final sale and non-refundable once these products leave our premises.
Do you offer dress cleaning services?
Yes we do! We have an in-house dress cleaning service that is available to all customers at an additional fee depending on the style of dress. Please contact us for more information.
Are alterations inclusive within the dress price?
Alterations are an additional service and provied for by a third-party. Scarlett Fashion and Pearl & Ivory do not take responsibility for any additional costs.
Do you have any matching jewelry and accessories?
We stock an extensive range of bridal jewelry and accessories, inclduing lace boleros, lace parasols, cusotm-made garters, headpieces, veils, jewelry sets, tiaras, hair slides, fascinators, wedding sashes & belts, faux wraps and so on! We also stock Abelina Wedding & Formal Shoes.
